Torsten Bronger

physicist & developer

I’ve been working in the area of research and development for 25 years, with emphasis on material science. Constantly switching sides between science and IT, I did experimental research in the lab until 2016, and since then I have developed and taught IT tools and methods in order to support such research, and to publish it in a reproducible way.

Openness is crucial for all the results, both research data and software developed for reserach. Keeping such things closed is throwing a spanner in the works of science.

At the same time, I am passionate about IT for almost four decades. I’ve been developing software for the same period, and since the turn of the millennium as open source. I have contributed 15,000 commits along the way.
